Our Dream
I have a dream that our dream is one in the same.
In this dream, despite the digital age, we will choose real human connection.
In this dream technology does not merely make us faster, but wiser.
In this dream, where dreamers gather, we provide community and purpose to the isolated, lonely, lost and afraid.
In this dream our identity is rooted in a commitment to love one another.
In this dream our love triumphs over tribalism, pride, and self-assuredness.
In this dream our oneness is prioritized and treasured.
In this dream compassion is why we work, learn, and worship.
In this dream empathy is not an inconvenience, but a pathway.
In this dream our homes are safe; children are nourished, loved, and rested.
I implore you: dream with me of this world.
Dream of a world where resources are pooled together for causes like kindness.
Dream of a world where acts of generosity garner our attention, where stadiums are filled with fans that cheer for icons feeding the hungry, tending the sick, and marching for justice.
Dream of a world where we are not enemies, where our differences make us stronger and our diversity is celebrated.
Dream of a world where in times of struggle, integrity becomes more important.
This is the same dream as our fathers. It was dreamt 250 years ago, when all people were meant to be treated equal.
This is the same dream as ancient faith leaders, prophets that called us to topple the greedy, out the corrupt, and liberate the captives.
This is the same dream of freedom. It is not mine; it is ours.
I have a dream not for my sake, but for the sake of our neighbors.
I have a dream that we awaken from our slumber.
Now is the time for our dream to become reality.
